DabbleDB Funded (Pt 2) and the Truth As I See It about Web2.0

Paul is calling Dabble “the first truly ‘Enterprise 2.0’ company”

The first you say? heh, it certainly won’t be the last…

In the past few months, I’ve really come around on this whole Web2.0 idea. Thus far, the hype has all surrounded the explosion of consumer apps in Web2.0 and has moved on to the modern fads of web2.0 and blogging for marketing. Many of these ideas are interesting, some now indispensable, others entirely dubious while all, as I see it, really just just foreplay.

It’s becoming evermore clear that the real and enormous potential for web 2.0 (aka social media) is in enterprise. From basic internal encyclo(wiki)pedias to internal blogging, communication and collaboration tools there is enormous opportunity to connect and empower the latent human capital within any organization. And watch for me to be posting more on this subject in the coming weeks.

Yes, it’s taken a long while, but were finally getting close to showing what the world wide web was really meant to do in the beginning. Watch for huge productivity gains ahead. Just don’t forget to get on board. And meanwhile of course, e-mail me anytime if you’d like to chat about any of these ideas further.

DabbleDB funded

dabbledb

The Word is out, DabbleDB has gotten funding. Ventures West was the firm savvy enough to snap this deal up. I had the chance to see these guys demo their stuff at DemoCamp a few months back and what they’re doing is some spectacular bits of technology. Imagine all of those non-math things you bastardized Excel to do like keep lists of schedules, contacts or semi-organized action logs and so forth. Dabbledb takes all your data and you can play with it through just-like and Excel interface while in the background it magically sorts, cross-links and organizes everything into a database without you the user having to know how the hell it’s doing it. And then, like google spreadsheets, it’s web-based so you can access and collaborate on the data without the hell of version tracking and e-mailing around document versions and who’s got the latest version and so forth.

Om broke the story and Paul Kedrosky of ventures West adds a few clarifying points here.
