I also have a nice Winamp Plugin that has a pause, stop, previous and next button all in one taskbar icon. You'd think they could maybe just dedicate 1/2 or 1/4 of the speaker icon to a "mute now" button, ah well. At least most (all?) laptops have a keyboard shortcut that does the same (though I haven't installed the drivers after my last re-format) I definitely agree with you on that.
