Do androids dream of electric pants?

Thanks to Open Gardens for pointing this out. Two good vids on youtube demoing googles new mobile phone operating system/software platform called android.

The first video features Sergey Brin himself introducing some of the things android can do. (which are pretty cool)

As for the second video, I don’t even know what’s more interesting, the fact you can build somewhat-nifty geolocative games on the platform in a jiffy, or, that software CEOs in California don’t even bother to wear pants anymore.

judge for yourself: Cool Android SDK videos .. – OpenGardens

Just saw these videos earlier today, and laughed at the CEO in shorts, sitting in a deep sofa. It was like passing a car accident on a freeway, you know that if you look closer, you will regret it. Would it have killed him to wear pants on such an occasion?

I am old enough to have kept a sports jacket on a hanger in my office (those productive workspaces before cubicles) for the days when I had to meet senior management, or had visitors. Now I keep nice moccasins in my cubicle for such occasions, to replace my trekkers. In future, will my emergency upgrade be a pair of rugby pants? And where will I store them?
