hmmm - it depends. in korea, people are dropping from cyworld (dominant SNS that, like FB, supports blog/rss=>profile(aka minihmpy) like flies. after many years of SNS, ppl just get tired of it. instead, korean 'web 2.0' style professional/personal blogs are growing in popularity. in canada and the US, the infatuation with FB is partially novelty. so it's obviously too soon to tell.

I've noticed it too. But I've noticed the first rush of Facebook excitement also fading. I'm not getting poked, sent flowers, and so at the same rate as at the beginning of the summer and less people are finding me to be friends. And when facebook comes up in conversations there is a resistance that suggests that much of it's audience has already signed up and the rest are resisting. I thought that facebook had revolutionary potential, but now I wonder if it's going to be another fad like CB radios. Maybe some people just don't want to move their social life on-line.

Thanks for the note Henriette. I'm doing grand as well!

But I take your point, we still use blogs for those philosophical thoughts but the social and more immediate thoughts we're taking elsewhere and so the "flavour" of blogging is changing..

And that personal "flavour" mixed with fact was one of the original factors that made blogs interesting to read.

The flavour is drying out to some extent

I agree and I don't agree...

I don't have the urge to blog at the moment - yes and it has mainly to do with facebook and twiitter -

I think though that you will use the blog for deep philosophical thoughts - still it's not as interesting as it used to be, mainly because your community is on facebook =)

hope you're doing well =) we're grand
