The reality is that within the enterprise, awareness of social media is nowhere what it is among those of us who blog & etc. Business is still struggling to understand what all of this means, and while it may sound unnecessary, the reality is that before jumping in, they do need to have some sort of a plan in place - if only to decide why they're doing it and whether it's successful!
