Interesting....Apple and DELL- Well, I don't see anything on the DELL Web site about Apple, Mac or anything of that nature. But I am seeing a joint agreement between Canonical, Ltd. and DELL regarding pre-installed and fully supported Ubuntu Linux on DELL machines. Maybe you're right about Apple, and this announcement is a big win for everyone, perhaps even Apple. We shall see...

It was intentional or you have banned Linux as a viable replacement for MSFT OS's?
Wall Street Journal has an interesting article about how is Linux doing in the corporate world.

No flames; I agree with you… mostly. Especially this:

Unless Microsoft recovers, big changes are coming.

While it is obvious that social media is on the rise, and will eventually crest, but I don’t think it had turned the tide of BIG IT just yet. So when you say that market inertia will allow MSFT to coast I agree with you, like a tsunami the impact won’t be on the ocean but the shore. I would think that Vista will sell more copies then all the Mac OSX that came before it. I won’t say after it I don’t want to make that bet.

As far as OS’s go Vista appears to be disappointing but then again XP was disappointing as well (IMHO), so was Millennium and we can’t forget Bob.

The end of GDI/WIN32/NTFS and the start of something new is the hope. WPF/64bit/WINFS with virtualized XP for old apps sounds sweet. Legacy support in the next Windows must end.

[...] Vista’s DRM mistake, and the decline of Microsoft Windows: Microsoft introduces Vista to area bloggers, Nov. 2006 Tom’s done a fantastic job summarizing the current state of things with respect to MSFT, Vista, DRM, Big IT, Enterprise 2.0 and how they are all interlinked into a bigger story about the long-term trend towards OPEN. Some key quotes: No, the next revolution in business productivity comes from empowering *people*, and not Big IT. The next revolution comes from embracing emergent uses of tools and a default status of “openness” not the other way around. Port 80 has set us free [port 80 is used by web browsers to access the greater internet and the one loophole left necessarily, grudgingly, open in every corporate firewall]. Meanwhile those who know, and those who are [not] tied to corporate IT have switched to Mac already. It was the MacBookPro and Apple’s switch to powerful (and finally equivalent/better) x86 hardware that did it. Try going to a tech or blogger conference and every single person sitting comfortably ensconced behind the glowing Apple logo of their MacBooks. [...]
