Pursudo really was a labour of love for us at Unspace. The fact it was developed in Rails in a short time period is mostly irrelevant - although it does show the power of being able to take an idea and whip it up quickly. Pursudo is far from a done deal. We'll keep evolving along with it as the community grows.

The project really did grow out of the frusration Pete encountered using traditional dating sites, and the fact that it's almost impossible to write about yourself. In fact, even though Pursudo started out as a "dating site", it quickly evolved to encompass many sorts of activities outside dating as you'll see on the site now. Hell, even I found an activity there, and I'm a boring married guy with no use for a dating site anymore (I met my wife on one though!).

Lastly, as far as all the brouhaha over The Comments goes... I hope the women offended come back with a demo and put the boys in their place.

[...] Tom Purves I was blown away by the conceptshare demo. Concept share is a way to collaborate on visual documents. It’s spectacular in its execution. Having spent the last two weeks playing endless e-mail tag with a designer and team members trying to finalize our firestoker branding, I want this software and I want it yesterday. The conceptshare demo alone was worth the price of admission for me and I hope that the controversy doesn’t overshadow the high value of this demo. [...]

[...] Update : The ‘normal’ process is write up my view, post, then edit (spell check for the 20th time, try to clean up the grammar), and read what others are saying. And so it was only after writing my, already delayed, first draft (uposted) that I read David Crows Open Apology, the Gregs post and Thomas’s observations. [...]
